Course objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:
- Distinguish spoken and written Nepali and use the standard form.
- Understand the source, class, formation, and meaning of words used across different fields of Nepali writing, and use them in context.
- Convert information between tables, diagrams, graphs, and charts and prose paragraphs, both ways.
- Identify Nepali sentence elements and produce sentence-based composition.
- Identify the structure of a discourse or text.
- Answer comprehension questions based on realistic texts from various fields of Nepali literature.
- Take notes and synthesize the main points of a subject.
- Express independent ideas based on a text, and write various practical documents and reports in prescribed formats.
- Write substantive, objective essays.
- Read, appreciate, and respond to prescribed poems, songs/ghazals, essays, stories, a novel, and a play.
